Standard Operating Procedures: Private Carriage

1. Nature of the Flight

This is a general aviation flight conducted under 14 CFR Part 91. This is not a commercial air carrier or charter operation. Mark Shelgosh is an FAA-certified Private Pilot; however, this flight is conducted for recreation and the cost of the flight is shared proportionally as permitted by FAA regulations.

2. Inherent Risks

General aviation involves inherent risks. While every precaution is taken and all aircraft are maintained to strict FAA standards, you acknowledge that you are flying in a small, single-engine aircraft and accept the associated risks of light aircraft travel.

3. Safety Briefing (S.A.F.E.T.Y.)

  • Seatbelts: Must be worn for taxi, takeoff, and landing.
  • Air Vents: Locations and operation will be demonstrated.
  • Fire Extinguisher: Location and use will be briefed on the ramp.
  • Exit/Emergency: Door operation and emergency egress will be briefed.
  • Traffic: Please point out any aircraft you see. "See and Avoid" is a team effort.
  • Your Questions: Ask anything at any time.

4. Sterile Cockpit

During critical phases of flight (taxi, takeoff, landing, and below 3,000 feet), please refrain from non-essential conversation to allow the pilot to focus on radio communications and navigation.
