What Makes It Special
SIG SAUER's own training facility is where professionals and first-timers meet on equal footing. The structured course progression takes you from Handgun 101 all the way through advanced tactical scenarios — and the rental selection is second to none.
Mark's go-to for first-timers: the staff is exceptional, the lanes are clean, and the whole facility is designed around the idea that everyone was a beginner once. Mark's a member there, but you don't need to be — anyone can walk in.

The Four Rules
Non-negotiable. Every session starts here.
Treat every weapon as if it were loaded.
Always assume a firearm is ready to fire until you personally prove otherwise by clearing and inspecting the chamber.
Never point your weapon at anything you do not intend to shoot.
Maintain strict muzzle awareness and keep the weapon pointed in a safe direction at all times.
Keep your finger straight and off the trigger until you are ready to fire.
Rest your trigger finger flat along the receiver or frame to prevent accidental discharges.
Keep your weapon on safe until you intend to fire.
Engage the manual safety as the final physical barrier until your sights are on target and you decide to take a shot.

Guidance for First-Timers
Beyond the range, I've become the person friends, family, and coworkers turn to when they're thinking about their first firearm. Whether it's figuring out what to buy and why, understanding the legal process to purchase, or just answering the questions people are sometimes nervous to ask, I'm happy to help.
My approach: safety first, the right tool for the person, and no pressure — the goal is that you feel confident and informed, not sold to. That's meant helping colleagues pick their first handgun, walking family through the paperwork, and taking friends out for their first range day so they leave with real skills, not just a receipt.
One thing I always tell people considering their first purchase: come shoot first. Trying different platforms — different calibers, different grips, different fits — is the fastest way to find what actually works for you, not just what looks good on paper.
